Untitled bilingual project

2017

As a Spanish artist living and working in the USA, bilingualism and cultural displacement are recurring themes in my artwork. Here, a sentence in English offers a dark commentary while the one in Spanish shows a positivist and hopeful postscript. While different languages are mostly shown together when one is the translation of the other, here they compose layers of significance. For a better understanding of the artwork, the public is encouraged to find the meaning of the sentence in Spanish by themselves, using tools as Google Translator.

For those who read only English, I have done what I can. Ezra Pound in “ABC of Reading”
